X (Twitter) tool
X Post & Thread Generator
X rewards compression: the posts that travel are single sharp ideas, a surprising line, a useful list, a strong opinion defended in a thread. Free accounts get 280 characters per post, so every post here is written to fit — thread openers are designed to earn the click that expands the thread.
Enter your topic and pick a format — single post, thread starter, or hot-take opener — and generate drafts you can post as-is after a quick personal edit, or use as the first post of a longer thread.
How it works
Type your topic, choose the format and tone, and click Generate. For threads, use the generated opener as post 1, then add one point per post, numbering them (1/, 2/…) and ending with a summary plus a call to follow or repost. Keep each post under 280 characters with our X Character Counter.
X (Twitter) tips & best practices
- One idea per post: If a post needs 'and also', it is two posts. Compression is the whole craft on X.
- Open with the conclusion: X is scanned, not read. Put the surprising claim first and the explanation after.
- Threads need a contract: The opener must promise a payoff ('7 lessons from 3 years of…'). Break the promise and followers stop opening threads.
- Line breaks are free emphasis: A blank line between a claim and its support dramatically raises readability in the feed.
- End with an action: 'Repost to save this' or a genuine question turns readers into distribution.
Frequently asked questions
What is the character limit on X?
280 characters for free accounts (links count as 23 characters regardless of length). Premium accounts can post longer, but 280 remains the feed-friendly standard this tool writes to.
How long should a thread be?
Most effective threads run 5–12 posts: opener, one point per post, summary and CTA. Beyond that, completion rates drop sharply.
Do hashtags help on X?
Barely — one or two at most, integrated into a sentence. X's algorithm primarily reads the text itself and early engagement.
When is the best time to post on X?
Weekday mornings in your audience's timezone are a solid default for professional topics; use our Best Time to Post finder for platform-by-platform guidance.
