YouTube Channel Description Generator
Your channel description (the About section) is read by two audiences: potential subscribers deciding whether this channel is 'for them', and YouTube's search, which uses it to understand your topic. Most channels waste it on a vague sentence or nothing at all.
This generator drafts a complete channel description for your niche: an opening line that states your content promise, a 'what you'll find here' list, your upload schedule, and a business-contact line — the structure viewers and sponsors both look for.
How it works
Enter your channel topic, who the channel is for and your upload days, then click Generate. Paste the result into YouTube Studio → Customisation → Basic info, replacing the placeholders with your real schedule and business email (use a dedicated channel email, not a personal one).
YouTube tips & best practices
- First 2 lines carry the promise: State what you post and who benefits before anything else — that text is what search and channel-page snippets show.
- Name your series: Listing your recurring series ('Monday: budget builds') tells a visitor there is a back-catalogue worth bingeing.
- Publish a real schedule: A schedule you actually keep builds return viewers; an aspirational one quietly breaks trust.
- Business email, separate inbox: Sponsors do look here. Use a channel-specific email you check weekly.
- Keywords in natural sentences: Write your topic phrases ('beginner sourdough tutorials') inside normal sentences — never a keyword list.
Frequently asked questions
How long can a channel description be?
Up to 1,000 characters. Most effective descriptions use 600–900: promise, content list, schedule, contact.
Where does the channel description appear?
On your channel's About tab and in channel search results — and it influences how YouTube categorises your channel.
Should I include social links in it?
Links live in the dedicated Links section of channel customisation and show on the channel page; the description itself is best kept as clean text with your business email.
How often should I update it?
Whenever your niche, series or schedule changes — and at least every six months to keep it truthful.
Is this generator free?
Yes — free with no sign-up, and it runs locally in your browser.
