Instagram Money Calculator
'What should I charge?' is the question that stalls more first brand deals than any other. Charge too little and you train brands to undervalue you — and burn hours producing content for the price of a coffee. Charge from a number you invented and you may price yourself out of deals you would have won. What you need is a defensible range, built the way brands themselves build it, that you can open a negotiation with.
Brand pricing on Instagram is usually anchored on a per-1,000-followers rate, then adjusted: up for strong engagement, valuable niches and wealthy audiences, down for the opposite. This calculator mirrors that structure openly. Enter your followers and engagement rate, pick your niche band, and it estimates a sponsored feed post, a Reel (typically priced at or above a post) and a Story set (typically an add-on) — showing its assumptions instead of hiding them.
Then read the negotiation note the calculator adds: usage rights, exclusivity and link placement are separate products that many creators accidentally give away free. The range gets you to the table; those line items are where fair pay actually lives. And keep perspective — these are third-party estimates for planning, not rates Instagram publishes, because Instagram publishes none.
Now schedule it — consistency is the actual growth hack
Creating the content is half the job. The other half is showing up on schedule, week after week, which is exactly what the free SocialMediaSchedular app is for: plan, queue and schedule posts for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X and LinkedIn from one dashboard.

How it works
Enter your follower count and your engagement rate — if you do not know the rate, our Instagram Engagement Rate Calculator works it out from your likes and comments in seconds. Optionally add your average likes as a cross-check, choose the niche band closest to your content, and click Calculate. Read the three formats as a menu you can offer a brand, and treat the low end as your walk-away floor for a simple, organic-only post with no extras.
- Enter your followers and engagement rate (calculate the rate first if needed).
- Optionally add average likes per post for the sanity cross-check.
- Choose your niche band — business and finance audiences command the highest rates.
- Click Calculate and use the range to open negotiations, pricing usage and exclusivity separately.
How brands actually price an Instagram post
The anchor most agencies start from is a cost per 1,000 followers — very roughly $7–$15 for a feed post in commonly cited creator-economy guidance — because it scales a quote to account size instantly. But the anchor is only the start. Engagement rate is the first adjustment: an account at 6% engagement reaches its audience twice as effectively as one at 3%, and this calculator scales the range accordingly. Niche is the second: a follower who follows a finance educator is worth more to advertisers than a general entertainment follower, because the products are worth more. Audience geography is the third, unglamorous one: audiences concentrated in the US, UK and EU price higher than global audiences, whatever the follower count says.
Finally come the deliverables: one post is one price; a post plus Stories plus a Reel is a package; usage rights (the brand running your face in its ads) and category exclusivity (you cannot work with competitors for 30–90 days) are genuinely valuable extras. Itemise them. A creator who quotes '$300 for the post, +$150 for 30 days of usage, exclusivity negotiable' sounds like a professional and usually ends up better paid than one who blurts a single number.
Why a range beats a number — including when you negotiate
Every calculator on the internet, this one included, compresses a messy market into arithmetic. Two accounts with identical followers and engagement can close deals 3× apart because one audience trusts the creator's recommendations and the other scrolls past them. So use the output as a range with a floor: quote from the upper half if your content quality and audience fit are strong, hold the low end as your private walk-away line, and let each real deal teach you your market. After three to five paid collaborations you will stop needing calculators — you will have something better: your own rate history. Until then, an evidence-based range beats both undercharging from shyness and overcharging from fantasy.
Instagram tips & best practices
- Never quote before seeing the brief: Deliverables, usage and exclusivity change the price more than follower count does. Ask first, price second.
- Engagement is your raise: Moving from 2% to 4% engagement can lift your range more than 20,000 new followers. Protect it — reply to comments, post consistently, keep the niche tight.
- Price Stories as add-ons: A Story set alone is cheap because it vanishes in 24 hours; bundled with a post or Reel it sweetens the package at little extra work.
- Keep a rate log: Record every enquiry, quote and outcome. Five rows of your own data outperform every calculator ever built.
- Smaller account? Sell what big accounts cannot: Local reach, a niche community that trusts you, fast turnaround, and content the brand can reuse. Price the outcome, not just the audience size.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I charge for a sponsored Instagram post?
A commonly cited starting anchor is roughly $7–$15 per 1,000 followers for a feed post, adjusted up or down for engagement rate, niche and audience location. This calculator applies those adjustments transparently — but your final price should also reflect deliverables, usage rights and exclusivity, which are separate value.
Do Reels pay more than photo posts?
Usually yes, modestly: brands commonly price Reels at or above a static post because Reels reach non-followers and take more production time. The calculator reflects that with a Reel range starting at the post range and extending higher.
Why does my niche change the estimate so much?
Because advertisers pay for buying power and intent, not attention in the abstract. A business-software brand can pay far more per customer than a snack brand, so audiences for finance, business, beauty and fitness content command higher per-follower rates than general entertainment.
I have under 2,000 followers — can I charge at all?
Yes, if a brand approaches you, though at that size payment is often product, a small fee, or both — the calculator floors tiny accounts at modest figures for that reason. Nano creators with a local or specialist audience are genuinely useful to small businesses; price modestly, deliver brilliantly, log the result, and raise rates as proof accumulates.
Is this Instagram money calculator free and honest about its limits?
Free, running entirely in your browser, and deliberately labelled: these are estimates built from commonly cited third-party ranges, not official Instagram rates (none exist). Anyone promising you an exact figure is selling false precision.
